i, My name is Denise Smith Allen. In 1996, there was a  growing   need to address issues of importance to African-American Women in the Flint , Michigan area.  After much soul-searching and Prayer a call letter went out to form this group. The response was great!

Since we began,  our mission has been to educate and empower women, as we truly are the first teachers.  That being said, we have embarked on a mission to participate in the political structure and make a difference in our respective communities.  Additionally as we are  self supporting, money generated have done some awesome things in the form of scholarships for over thirty-eight (38) students.  Consider becoming a part of a sister movement that is more than the status quo.......look to hear from you soon!

We are back!  From a long overdue vacation and ready to get back to the business of leading discussions on impacting positive changes for black women in particular and the black community as a whole.  This is our theme for the rest of 2008 and our rallying cry.  In keeping with this theme, we will be attending meetings at  the Flint School Board and city council to ensure inclusion in the process and challenging the status quo.  Letter writing campaigns and participating in the final days of the election will be keeping us busy for this last quarter. Lastly Sister of the Month Beverly Wimberly is a dynamic woman with a passion for working with people, the UAW.  Her bio will be included in the CPSA for the month of October. Stay tune........

Let us make a resolution to do our part to make our organization great!!

Yours in Sisterhood,
Denise Smith Allen
